Q & A
What is facial toning?
It's easy, safe and simple. Like going to a gym for your face. We have the machines and act as your personal trainers. It is often referred to as a non-surgical facelift. This non-invasive treatment uses micro-current technology that has its roots in physiotherapy. We exercise each muscle giving extra attention to the problem areas. You lay back and relax! We do all the work.
How does it work and how long does it take to see results?
We stimulate the nerve centers on a muscle with micro-current, and this causes a contraction in the muscle, similar to doing repetitions at the gym. This process tones the muscle just like a work out at the gym would. Like going to the gym, one session does not give you a new body. The same things holds true here. It takes about six sessions before you start to see results and you continue to see improvements for the first two years.
What was it like for you when you first started?
I remember very clearly when I first started. I was 39 and every time I looked in the mirror I would see something new that I didn't like, a new line, a new spot, a new hair. Then I started doing facial toning treatments and I was just as skeptical as everyone is. After 4 sessions I thought I was beginning to see something and after 6 sessions I knew for sure that this process worked. That's how it works. You will see a change right after your treatment but because the muscles are not strong enough yet it will not hold for very long. You see it intermittently at the beginning. Each time you come the muscles become stronger until finally you can see it consistently. No longer will you hear "You look tired, are you feeling ok?" when you feel perfectly fine. Actually you felt really great until you heard that.
How long is each session?
Each session is 45 minutes and costs $80.00. You can easily do it on your lunch hour or a relaxing stop on your way home. We offer a quiet oasis away from the hustle and bustle of the world.
What kind of results do you get?
The results are very real. The eyes really open up and you no longer have that tired look. Your eyes also look brighter because when they are more open, you see more of the whites of the eyes. The cheek area gets heavy and bulky as we age and those muscles are pulled down by gravity. Facial toning pulls those muscles up and in, so our jawline firms up and our cheeks are pulled in. Often you will hear "You look like you lost weight" as a result of these treatments.
How often should I come?
You have your muscles toned more at first and then you spread the sessions out to a maintenance schedule. To start we recommend coming once a week for 6 weeks to develop a basic tone in the muscles. Then you begin to spread the sessions out coming every 2 weeks for two times and then every 3 weeks for two times. A maintenance schedule is a very individual thing. It's like getting your hair done. Everyone has different ideas about how often to schedule appointments. It's the same thing here. Some people visit once a week. The most common is every two or three weeks. And I do have a whole group that book once a month. It depends on how much time and money you want to invest in your face. And just like going to go get your hair done, people come extra for special occasions like reunions, holidays, and birthdays.
How will I look after treatment?
During the treatment we increase the blood flow to the surface of your skin and you become pink. This increased circulation is great for your skin because as we age we don't circulate as well as when we were younger. Blood is the healer of the body and this extra circulation helps to heal the muscles and the skin. The texture of the skin improves and the overall skin tone becomes more even. It also improves cell turnover. The flushed effect generally disappears when you stand up. Most people find they look their best the day after the treatment.
How does it feel?
If you have ever been for physiotherapy and they used a machine with current running through it on you, then you know what this is like. You can feel it, but it doesn't hurt, it just feels different. Like using an ultrasonic toothbrush for the first time; after a while you no longer feel the sensation.
